Everyone wants to change something in their life. Their hair, their style, their weight, and some even want to change their lifestyle. As humans we are always trying to be different or what we perceive to be "better" than we are/were. It's completely normal, also, to want a change of pace or scenery. That's why we go on trips and vacations and sometimes they turn into "staycations" which is what we are planning in January when we move to Louisiana (can't wait). Now that we have the wheels in motion for our big (and hopefully last) move I have come to realize sometimes the easiest thing to change is your mind and the way you think of things. Try finding the good in situations rather than focusing on the negatives. My hometown has been declining over the past few years with violent crime going up and the quality if life going down. It's a heartbreaking thought that the place I love and was so proud to be from is such a disgusting shit hole.....until the thought if moving became a reality. I am noticing how beautiful the sun is coming up over the tips of the trees and for behind the churches. I notice peeks of the high school from between the trees or houses and I'm like wow. The sky looks bluer and the grass looks greener an plusher than I remember it. I appreciate the fact the I come from a place where there are antique steam tractor and thrashing shows at the county fairgrounds in the summer. I am remembering how much I love the ever changing canvas of the fields throughout the seasons and how much I love watching the trees come to life in the Spring and the amazingly beautiful show they put on every year before the leaves die off. I'm also realizing that there are people here that made my life what it is. The good, the bad, and the ugly and I appreciate everyone that has pushed me to do my beat and the ones that tried their hardest to bring me down (didn't work bitched lol). All of this came one day when I decided to make the best if the time I had here in my hometown and wanted to take with me good memories and a good attitude about where I'm from because, let's face it, where you're from helps to shape who you are. I want to remember, lovingly, where u was born and take with me only good feelings and stories to share with everyone I meet. When I tell people I'm from Pretzel City I want to have pride in my voice rather than a feeling of sadness. It's easier than you think too. Rather than dwelling on all the negatives going on around you find the positives. People in the worst situations can find something to be thankful for, even if it's only the fact that you are breathing. Every time you pull air into your lungs you are being given a gift. Every breath you take is an opportunity to change something in your life or the life if someone else. The best change you can make is in your heart and mind and the rest just sort of falls into place. I will miss living in Northern Illinois. Where else can you drive one direction and be in a big city and go as equally in the opposite direction and see some of the most beautiful countryside you will ever see? It's diverse, exciting, and calming. It's ever changing and evolving but at the same time staying the same. I will miss my friends and family but I will see them and talk to them a lot but my want to move is stronger than my want to stay and now I will have something to look forward to when we come back for vacation. Change your mind, change your life. Simple as that
Until next time
Hugs, Kisses and Bestest wishes
